Lyon

Lyon

i kno i stopped for a while since the Avignon post but i've been busy! hey i need to get on with my life in singapore. it sort of stopped on 4th Jan. its time i met up with people i haven seen since last year..

while the photos r being published, i wanna talk about the things that happened while i was away! i know people might say i didn't miss much but walao eh.. scotts shopping centre is NO MORE!! i lament its loss.. (did anyone take final photos?) not that i frequent the place much haha.. still pretty amazing that its gone isn't it? n the roads at SMU have changed rather drastically too.. i think road construction is amazing.. you cannot imagine how the final product will be like until it is unveiled then everything falls into place! n there's a fallen distant relative never to be seen again.. kinda sad i hardly talk to her but i still feel the loss somehow.. she's my age.. aren't we supposed to have our whole lives ahead of us to do as we wish.. what happened along the way for her? *morose perplexed*

Gorgeous view of the mountains from the train to Lyon. Beautiful!

This is the open square near our hotel. Its a park conveniently located near a university hence we have free but slightly erratic wifi and lots of uni students actually picnic here! this is also very near the train station perrache. gawd i love lyon everything was within such easy reach.. well everything except Fourviere Basilica!

To see this bloody majestic Fourviere Notre Dame Basilica that sits haughtily on top of a very high hill..
we climbed and climbed and climbed...

Does it look prettier now that you have 'experienced' the ardous journey of climbing those bloody staircases? they were seriously steep and never-ending.. but we made it THANK GOD.. it'd b so loser to die climbing stairs rite!

The magnificient view from atop... somehow it made all that climbing, gasping for air, cursing and swearing worth it..

Bloody tired but damn happy...The inside of the Basilica... Grandiose!
Mosaic that tells the story of jesus.. really its mosaic.. look at the closeup! Can you imagine how much effort went into this piece of art? Im thinking along the lines of... ALOT!Les Traboules

This..oh man this was memorable.. we knew we wanted to see the Traboules.. but they were so secretly hidden we had to follow tour groups in order to locate them!

Here's a short history (i thought it'd b interesting to know!): Often used by escapees and protestors looking to hide, the traboules were a system of short cuts designed to make life easier in the Vieux Lyon district. Although their design was intended to be purely functional for ease of travel, this network of paths was used by many people looking for a place to hide during the religious persecution, the Revolution, and by resistance fighters during World War II. Today, the traboules not only offer an easier way around, but also seem to lead the onlooker into many of the more quaint parts of Lyon, a city noted for its secretive way of life.

In the process of finding it...

Yay WE FOUND IT! can u believe we walked past this thing twice thinking there's was nothing behind the doors to the left of it?!

Inside the Traboule.. boy it was chilly and scary.. see the tour group we followed? haha..

Cathedrale St Jean.. under renovation.. bahhh so we just sat outside and sulked.. haha no lah.. we just walked past cos we had a greater goal in mind.. Fourviere Basilicaaaaaa....
Well.. that's bout all we did in Lyon aside from chill and slack our time away in the hotel and getting lost or distracted by food.. haha.. it was overall a pretty fun trip.. i loved every minute of being in Lyon! yay.. haha.. oh we had photos of us crossing the different bridges that connected Lyon across the river.. yes we just cross for fun to take photos.. call us bimbos... whateverrrrr...
